Hawaii Tourist Spots

Hawaii is the 50th state of the United States and is known as the Aloha State. Tourism is a huge industry in Hawaii and the natives take that industry very seriously so that vacationers will remember their Hawaii vacation with fond memories and want to return again at some future point.

As far as tourist spots, the list is almost too long to mention. Of course there are the Hawaii beaches. The Hanauma Bay Beach on the island of Oahu is beautifully situated within the crater of one of the several volcanoes on the island, making it a truly unique setting. But this area is also a conservation area so there are very strictly enforced rules about what you can and cannot do in this area, which some may find too restrictive for their tastes. No mention of beaches would be complete without also mentioning two other very popular beaches which would include Sunset Beach which is also on Oahu and Kaanapali Beach on the Hawaiian island of Maui.

History buffs may like to visit Pearl Harbor which was the site of the bombing from the Japanese just prior to the US getting involved in World War II. You may wish to consider a visit to Wawimea Valley, which is located in a typical Hawaiian tropical setting and was an ancient religious site for the native Hawaiians.

Although the thoughts of visiting a zoo on your Hawaii vacation may draw yawns from you, it is certainly something you should check out since it is very different from almost any other zoo you may have visited. The Honolulu Zoo is a world class zoo and certainly worthy of seeing, located in the midst of a rain forest. For nature lovers, Hawaii has some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, including the Manoa Falls and the surrounding rain forest.

Like any other tourist destination, a Hawaii vacation would not be totally complete without great shopping, and Hawaii does not disappoint the tourist in this way. Shopping abounds throughout Hawaii, and many of the smaller shops offer items that are not available elsewhere in the world, such as uniquely polished shells and creations made from shells.
